How hot does your CPU run ?
#2
Thunderbirds do run very hot 1200 and over very very hot
You should try to keep in below 50 under load but up to sixty will not do it any damage
I know these figures soung silly high but according to AMD the chip will not be damaged by heats up to 90 deg C !!!!
Tal run about 30 no load and up to 50+ on intensive programmes
You may want to upgrade your HSF check out

I could regulary crack over 60 with the standard Intel hs/fan combo on my Celeron 566 running at 850.
I lashed out £30 on a ThermoEngine from OC UK after I started to get a lot of crashes. Even after 12 hours of running THINK, my temps don't go above 50. I tried the 6800rpm fan but I could hear it downstairs (very loud!), so I'm now using the standard one supplied with the ThermoEngine.

Cheers Tal,
I haven't seen my EVER go above 48 degC, even with the system being left on for 36 hrs and under intensive load.
I was curious as to what other people run theirs at, as this is my first Athlon (and very, very happy I am with it)

It would seem that I hold the record at 72deg then
I've got 2 girls here with big leaves fanning the CPU - I was told it was a very effective solution ?
Ah well if it fries I'll see a man about a fridge

Alan,
Look in the BIOS - one of the menu will be entitled something like 'PC Health Status'
What CPU are you running - I ask as older motherboards don't have this feature.

Mr Footlong,
When idle, is assume you mean just running Windows2000 desktop with no apps.
My Athlon 1.33GHz / Chassis stays at 26 / 48 regardless of what app I'm running.
What cooling solution do you use ?

Daz, I am running a Thermalright SK6 Heatsink.
All copper, with tons of fins that are actually micro-soldered into the base and crimped beautifully together at the top for strength. More a work of art than a heatsink. Delta Black Label fan, also the case churns through a lot of air.
Nick.
