Guys,
My wife is thinking about buying a new KA Luxury - OTR £9595.
Anybody got any idea what sort of discount we should be chasing - I know that on the Ford website the are just under £9k, with a 2 week delivery, but can I get the dealer down more?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Matt
If you're interested in importing a Ford from Europe (Calais, France) there are good savings to be had.
My family has imported 3 cars from Europe, 2 from Holland and the latest a Fiesta Zetec S for my brother which we collect next week.
Managed to save £3K on UK price. Only thing is 3 month waiting time.
If you're interested I'll mail you details. Pick Fiesta up next week and so far been plain sailing.

Matt,
Can't promise anything, but my mum works for Ford and recently brought home a price list with the discounts she can get off each car. I can't find the list at the moment, so not sure whether it has been thrown out.
Will ask her and get back to you on the price and whether you'd be able to get a discount.
Like I said I can't promise anything, as it may only be for family, but will find out asap.
Cheers,
Tom

Whether it is luxury or not it still has a very nasty 1.3 8V engine which is truly horrible, and despite it being a good car otherwise would really put me off. And even if you get a big discount it will depreciate horribly. They don't look as good as a Ka but a 1.25 Fiesta is a MUCH better drive (much more peppy and refined) and if you got a year old new shape (UK sourced which will keep its value better than TradeSales or Motorpoint imports) one you might pay less than £6k. Or for the list price of the Ka you could get a very nice second hand Puma - which in 1.4 format is easily insurable and will depreciate very slowly for a Ford and in 1.7 form is only group 12. (I have had 2 new Fords - 1.4 Fiesta Zetec and 2.0 Focus Ghia and got within 0.5% of dealer margin (around 8-9% at the time) each time and still been screwed on depreciation both times). IMHO - never buy a new Ford - buy it nearly new (or imported but consider the resale). Recent Fords have a 3year warranty, and believe me new Fords always have at least a few at least minor problems at delivery - why not let someone else sort it and pick the best nearly new?
