According to who mate?
Today's official BBK figures quote it as 10.3%, up 62k in January, with a total of 4.27m people unemployed.
Still, not a pretty picture. A 4.5 year high.

Ah, just relised, you've got the unadjusted numbers.
Although if you take the EU harmonised numbers, it's 8.6%.
Lies, damn lies and statistics, eh?

Its not looking likely to improve in the near future either, I've a few friends out here who've taken ages to find anything else and they have been pretty qualified and Rhein-Main area is not the worst hit either.

Guess who has the top spot! Home sweet home(Greece)
11.1% unemployment
29.5% unemployment for people under 25.
And we are not even a big country.
I understand now why my father is constantly saying to me that there's no point starting a new business and that i should go and take over his place at our company.

Cammy,
I'm in Frankfurt, so the economic difficulties are particularly evident here. Bearing in mind that most of the ex-pats here are investment bankers or people working in IT in investment banks, I would guess that more than half the people I know here have lost their jobs in the last 12 months.
