Hi All,

I need to borrow some extra brains for a few answers I can't get mine around. All the answers are moving/vehicle-related, e.g.,

Mostly mopped (5 letters) = MOPED
Chocolate shaver (9 letters)= AEROPLANE

Here are the ones we're all scratching our heads about in the office...

1) Big one is one (6,7)
2) Pretty coach? (6,3)
3) Wine glass (8)
4) Impersonate a President (8)

Free favours for the first to get the correct answers ;D

22BUK, i know schooner can be a boat too, but how is that applicable to the clue "wine glass".

If this is glaringly obvious then maybe i need more coffee!

<bangs head on desk>

Yes i did!!!

But that's hardly cyptic, is it? When you rightly mentioned that schooner can be a boat as well as a wine glass, i thought there was something in the two words "wine glass" which you could cryptically infer as being to do with a boat, like a schooner.

As it is, we've just found another word for a wine glass, haven't we?

I don't think the original question mentioned that the clues were necessarily cryptic, did it? Tough day at the office?

Red face

<gulp>

Not till i've seen the correct answers. I love quizzes like this, but these are tough. I'm currently trying to think of all the wines i know, to see if they are another word for "glass", but failing miserably at the moment.

And on number 4, there aren't many similies to impersonate - ape is one i can think of, but then i can't think of a president starting with "ape". there are words like "dictator", but again i can't link that to either word convincingly enough.

You see, i AM thinking about this!!!

Cheers, Telboy. These are definitely little beggars. But then, I struggled with "What's the name of the ship in 'Mutiny on the Bounty?"

Wink

Here's a proper cryptic clue from today's Telegraph -

Using "Stealth"? US pilot has it on manoeuvres in Southern county (15).

The answer to this is, rather obviously, "surreptitiously"

The one's above are far more difficult. No-one has got number 4 yet...
