Phillips, PW633 I think. In good condition (few minor scratches on the case (good clean and polish will tidy it up a treat I think)
For £250 - Should I buy? Is this any good? Anyone know anything about the model?
Also an ex-rental Hitachi for £320 (32") - better deal?

It should say Dolby on the front. Personally I'd spend around 400-450 quid and get a 28 inch decent one with all the goodies. 2nd hand TV's can be a pitfull and its ex-rental so been used and abused.

If it comes with a warranty then it should be ok.
As for Dolby Surround sound - this is old hat and when built in on most sets is nothing special at all.
If no warranty you would be a lot better going for a new £400-500 set with a decent 5 year warranty.
Simon.

Got a 3 month warranty.
Can upgrade to a year for £30 - won't bother as I'll soon find out if there's anything wrong with it in the 1st 3 months.
I don't think it'll be that old (32" from rental places would be quite recent addition to their stock I'd guess).
Does surround matter at all if I get Amp/dvd later on?
I'm guessing that it does have surround sound of some sorts as it has the number of speaker outputs (+ audio out too I think).
Ultimately £250 for a 32" (don't want 28") is a good deal. Can sell it on if I ever buy a brand new one.

Dunno - got speaker outputs in the back for front & rear (& centre maybe, can't remember). Does this mean it's got dolby surround?
Seller (rental co.) said it's got the facility for Dolby but is without speakers.
3 month warranty (£30 to make it a year) so seems a good idea to me. May sell it later on if I decide to get a top notch one.
