US release - mid June
UK release - mid July at least
NB: Sony US or Sony Europe still haven't confirmed a definite date. At least we'll get a better soundtrack and some new cars in our versions though.

Something daft like 35% of people asked said they'd buy the wheel for the game in Japan, so I don't think Sony would miss that sales opportunity over here either.
7% of people said they'd by a PS2 just to play GT3 on!
They reckon if you already have a Logitech USB wheel for your PC, it'll work on GT3 - there only minor aesthetic differences I'm told.

I'm one of that 7 percent! I love/loved GT and GT2 and apart from the fact that you can't yet have a region free PS2, GT3 and MGS2 are the only reasons I'm holding off getting a PS2, once GT3 is out and i've had a play I'll be getting a PS2.
BTW - anyone know if in simulation mode you can save/load settings, ala GT, you know save car setup, then change gear ratios, save it, then switch back. in GT1 this was great but they removed the ability to save separate settings in GT2 and that meant I had to *write down* *on paper!* my settings before changing, which was not fun.

cheers for the modchip info.
I was going to start asking questions about what DVD mech is in PS2, and thus working out which standalone sony players have this mech, then workout wether techtronics had a mod for it, then do it that way.

Druddle, region free ?
By region free, I hope you don't mean DVD movies, as thats not the case.
Think before buying current modchip - GT3 has code inserted that looks for a modchip and shuts down game if it finds one.
Greg, I'd buy a bog-standard PAL PS2 GT3 and think about a modchip later.

Dunno about DVD, but it lets PS2 games from any region play, but you need an Action Replay 2 cartridge too.
PS1 backups form any region play just with chip.
Dont know about GT3 modchip bug ??

The only reason I want a modchip is to allow region free DVD's (and maybe games)
my partner has a wharfdale 750s, which is a great machine, even better is that it's region free (with a handset hack). I get 90% of my DVD's from

druddle,
Yeah, I've got a modchip in mine. I was just confirming this NEO2 modchip doesn't make DVD region-free.
There's a plug in cartridge out soon that will make any PS2 region free - its currently being tested.
As for GT3, I'm told by our Japanese friends it detects some modchips and not others, so I'm not sure where I'll stand if I try and buy the game. I'll buy it anyway, even if I have to play the warez version.
