Fire doors
#1
Any Health & Safety experts out there?
They're replacing the firedoors at my work. Although the old ones would open in either direction, the new ones will only open in one direction. This means that if you are leaving the building via a fire exit route you now have to pull an internal door towards you. I thought that doors like this had to open in the direction that people leaving the building are travelling. Anyone able to comment? (Building is an office with approx 2000 workers)

I run a fire protection business, with regard to fire doors they must open in the direction of travel only if there will, or could be more than 50 persons passing through them in case of an emergency evacuation. Less than 50 and the opening does not have to be in the direction of travel, unless mitigating circumstances are present, such as persons with a disability who's evacuation may be affected.
