Ok another Digi camera Qn - Fuji Finepix 2800
#1
YepI know Digi Camera's have been done to death
But I started looking at the previous threads and I dont have a clue
I dont really want to be spending over £250 but everyone keeps pointing to FujiFinepix 2800
All I'm after is:
Minimum 2mb pixels
Zoom
Flash
Movies with sound
and batteries that dont go dead almost straight away
Is the Fuji about the best or are there other cheaper ones out there, if I say sacrifed say sound on movies
I keep hearing about the Canon Powershot A40, but have not read through the stuff yet.. cheapest I've seen is £192.. but with a fairly useless thrown in memory card
The cheapest I've seen te Fuji for is £278..
Are there others I should look at. I dont want to be trawling sites as theres loads out there, with reviews and everything, I just dont have the time to look over
Any help much appreciated...can someone make up my mind.. I want to order one by tomorrow at the latest

i started the other thread on which memory type to use. i looked at that camera and other fuji's but they didn't seem to support CF so i ruled them out.
currently looking at minolta (Dimage S304) canon (powershot a40 & ixus v3).
also, give e-bay a check!

Seconded - we got one ...er... 5 months ago? Absolutly excellent, use it all the time, easy to use, love it to bits! Even resulted in my step-dad getting the "next one up" for Christmas - it's great
Highly recommended.

its a great camera- I've got one and for only 2mega pixels it has great quality and a 6x optical zoom. However I think this has been replaced (poss 2900 zoom?)for a 3mega pixel model at the same money. Maybe the 2800 zoom will be available cheap somewhere.

I spent ages looking for a decent digital camera for that sort of money...
Canon Ixus V2 gets the thumbs up from me! Great size, quality little Camera with 2 megapixels, zoom, flash, etc.
Got mine for £198 last week from Apollo 2000, similar deals available if you look on www.pricerunner.com

I'm also considering the same camera (Fuji 2800). Same reasons, Price, quality etc... But I want to see 1st hand what it can do.
Can somebody post a sample picture that they took with it? It would be a good help in deciding
Cheers!

I've had the 2800 for a year and its spot on for home and work use. Only arsey thing has been a software problem with the Finepix loaded in the systray in Win98 almost always fails, so I do the picture transfer manually.
The Smartmedia chip supplied is 16Mb which is a bit limiting so go for as big as you can afford. Then you'll be able to have loads of photos and some movie shorts at the same time.
Also get a case to stop it being bashed around.
I think it has been replaced by the S602? at 3.2 Mb but it costs in the region of £500.

Have to agree, if you're taking pics in a very dimly lit room (e.g. nightclub), then the EVF is basically useless - you just have to point and hope.
And yes, it does everything you're looking for.
