Can anyone help me locate the company that has my website address registered.

Our website was registered by a local company IDM back in 1997. They have now been bought up, and so when someone types in our website address they get directed to a server that does not exist. How can I get the number changed to point at our new web hosting company. It would be one of the webregistration companies but which one?
