If you are looking at the NTL Cable modem service, then from my experience (6 Months) I can say that it is excellent. Very quick when many others are on and flies during lower usage periods. Had a few teething problems when it first came out, but nothing like the ADSL fiasco in the beginning. Very reliable service, but the main thing again is that it FLIES!
If you get the £19.99 512kbps offer where you are, then seriously look into it.
NTL have always provided me with a quick, reliable service for the last 3 years that I have been using them.
Hope this helps....

I'd tend to agree with the above sentiments until something goes wrong, then you can suffer.
I've been using the services since the trial in this area (well over a year now) and wouldn't know what to do without it nowadays but you do have to put up with occasional days where the webcaches don't work or connections across the LINX are a tad slow.
Overall its well worth 20 squid a month though, especially bearing in mind that BT's 0800 access is 15 quid a month for 56K
YMMV
Gareth.

Just checked and guess what...
its not available in my area.
As an ex-redhotant customer, can anyone suggest an ISP which i can use with my ntl line that gives some free access for a fee?
The phone bill is currently massive.
Phil.

Been on NTL cable for 4 months now and it is superb I pay £25 a month (£5 to hire the modem it didn't make sense to buy one) get downloads of 60-70 kps as opposed to 4-5 kps on my old V90 modem.(120 mb downloads not a problem)
However NTL customer service is terrible so bad it's a joke

I have NTL as I needed a second line and find it to be very good.
The customer service is not good at all.
Still waiting for them to bury a rather unsightly green cable which is making my garden look very untidy

What's wrong with using NTLworld modem ISP?
I got the free calls 24/7 before getting the cable modem and it was quick and reliable.
I can understand the support comments above, but I am a tad advanced with with this internet lark, so fortunatly really never had to ring them.
