I think it's a good console, but in the same state as the original playstation in that there aren't (m)any good games out for it at the moment that utilise the full power. I've only got Tekken Tag (top game) and Ridge Racer V (bit poo) because there is nothing else I want at the mo. Might be worth waiting to see what other games come out

Where is all the software for it.......
I've had one since early Jan and I have 2 software titles (One I bought yesterday).
In hindsight I'd wait for more titles at the moment it's a bit of a waste of time.IMHO

The system itself has huge possibilities, unfortunately this is nothing IMHO that currently pushes, it bar the GT3 demo.
Probably worth waiting til the prices comes down a little, or until GT3 or some of the other true NextGen games come out.

Best place to buy is a place that has them, not sure if there are any bundled deals around, they sometimes work out better, ie dixons were doing 2nd controller, 3 games etc cheaper than buying them seperately.
The only way you'll be able to get it cheaper is either go for an import
machine, buy 2nd hand, or ransack a lorry full of ps2's!

Not very impressed with mine! Sure SSX and Time Splitters are both good games but what worries me is that all the games that mags were hyping up turn out to be very mediocre. I have just played a demo of GT3 and as previously stated in other replys this is one top notch game but I wouldnt spend £345 to play it. If I were you I would wait until there are more games of GT3 quality and by this time the machine will probably have been reduced in price!

I'm fairly miffed at the entire lack of software available. I was looking forward to the PS2 for ages.
Though SSX is the best console game ever written IMHO.
Just hanging on for GT3 now...
Who wants to write software for a console with a UK user base of of only 160,000(?), when there are millions of PS1's.
Oh, you can play DVD's whoopee.
Sony better pull their fingers out our bill will get them with his PC in a box.
I hear there'll be a dedicated Ctrl/Alt/Delete button.

Most guys know my feelings on the PS2, but here it is again!!!
I have owned one since there 1st week of release in Japan!!! The console is not a bad console and undoubtadley is the most powerfullest one on the market today. The problem is the total lack of software, not just in the UK (which can only be expected) but on import from both JAP & USA. The quality of games apart from a few ARE TOTAL PANTS. I think i am valid to say this because i have played up to 60 PS2 games now (obviously these have been import ones).
The machine has got excellent potential, but IMHO is not worth paying for right now!!! If you are thinking of buying one, I would wait for a few more months until the games improve!!!!! and the perhaps the price drops.
Shaun.

I recently bought a dreamcast. There were no games to tempt me into buying the PS2 and some of the games for the DC are Awesome.
MSR
Shenmue
Phantasy Star Online
F355
to name but a few. You could do worse than throw 99 quid at one IMO.
I have no doubt whatsoever that I'll buy a PS2 or Xbox within a year or so (when they're nice and cheap) but until then I'm pleased with my DC.
Cheers,
Gareth.

I to have had a PS2 from the first week it was released in the UK. SSX is a wicked game, and I have just invested in MOTO-GP, which is great fun, and has a great 2 action. The only limitation is that it only has 5 tracks. GT3 has been pushed back till May as far as I know, but still to come this summer is Metal Gear Solid 2 and Resident Evil. So there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

The DC's RRP is now 99 quid so pretty much anywhere should be selling them for that.
You can play any DC game on any version of the DC and play copied games without having to "chip" the machine too - which is nice.......apparently.

I have just finished PLAYING a Demo of GT3!!!! And I must say I am impressed. It's a shame that it is only 1 of a couple of games that seem worth the hype!!!
Apparently the XBOX is ALREADY being slated for lack of release and future AGREED games!! Interestingly is the fact that the GAMECUBE by Nintendo is getting massive support and commitment from ALL the MAJOR software developers!!
Perhaps it's Nintendo that will rise again from the ashes and whup everyones asses!!!!

Well.
If you dont own a DVD player and want one then the PS2 is OK to buy now, but the choice of games is very limited.
The DC is a better choice if you just want to play games. Most of the best games of the last year are on the DC try teletext page 481> for Digitiser which is the best games review palce I know. Edge is the best mag.
PS2 gaems wise I am getting SSX at the wekend and looking forward to Gun Griffon Blaze, appart from that I will have to live off hype for a few more Months.....

Personally, I am happy i have a PSII over any of the other consoles out on the market.
ALthough there aren't many games out for it, what is out is ok. And the fact it comes with a dvd player is fantastic.
Best games - SSX , Ridge Racer, Timesplitters - (I once said this game was crap, but I have to change my verdict as i have now got into the game and its quite addictive!) etc etc
