Fantastic
However, if the police pushed it, isn't it obstructing an officer in the course of their duty which is a criminal offence?
Just interested before I go and get myself arrested

One of my fave stories from the land of Sunny Scunny, as reported in the local paper some years back now, concerns the bloke who was stopped for speeding, by an early mobile unit.
He was so annoyed that he proceeded to drive up and down the same stretch of road, flagging drivers down, and warning them. After he'd done it about 6 times, he was stopped, and told to desist!
The officers were amazed when they saw him parked about half a mile down the road, again warning oncoming drivers with flashed lights and gestures. They again warned him, and told him to move on.
15 minutes later they were again amazed to see matey apparently fixing something to a lamp post about 400 yards from their position. On investigating, they found it to be a home made sign proclaiming "Speed trap! Slow Down!"
At that point, matey was arrested.
Boy, he must have been really p*ssed off!

What was he doing wrong?
Isn't he just slowing cars down thus creating safer roads. The police should be thanking him. He's helping them in deterring speeders.
Unless of course it wasn't about road safety but cash generation - hmm who'd think of such a thing?
ooooh, how naieve (sp) a person I am!

Parking in a lay by is not an offence, I am led to understand that if there is a space in which to park there is nothing that can be done to stop this happening, however, ONLY in a layby, if it is a bus stop there is a problem as you should not park there anyway.
