I'm posting out a newsletter to our customers and recently I've seen some companies that have their letter as an HTML file. How do you get the file to automatically open when the mail is opened?
Thanks

It is a function of the mail router and client that the receipiens have. For instance I use notes 4.5 and I would just see the file as an attachment wich many people wont bother opening. Later versions of notes and outliook will open it as HTML. Webmail accotns could get strange results as well. Also a few companies may stop HTML at the firewall or mail-hub.
The best thing to do is to ask the users if they can/would like to receive mail in HTML format. Put it in thier registration area on your site, next to the thing where you ask them if you are allowed to send mail. (You must ask thier permission by to email them by law!)
To send a mail as HTML just past the HTML code into the body text of the eMail. You will need to link to any graphics on your site as you cant sent them as attachments

Thanks for the info.
I don't think I'll bother if some people can't see it. Might consider it for other applications however.
Thanks again

I tried doing that in one of the last companies i worked for. Turned out to be a disaster as most people were receiving the mail with 30 attatchments. Lotus notes cant see it for starters. Steer clear if i were u.
