So how come it takes about 15 seconds (MAX) to load at home on a 56k Modem. At work it takes exactley 7 seconds!!!!!!! (Just timed it)!!!

Geocities are hardly the most stable of hosts, especially when it comes to performance. Don't forget you are one of many and resources are shared to a considerable degree

It seems acceptable to me and thats on a humble 56k modem....Once the site has been loaded up initially, it will be quicker on future visits!

One thing at a time ladies!!!

Once the site is FULLY operational, I will look at alternative hosts.....this all depends on the amount of hits I get (which is going very well thankyou!!! ).

I've tried it over dual channel ISDN and 2Mb pipe at work and it sucks speed wise!

I tried loading it up over a T1 Lan and I am still waiting....!!??

I've just tried it from a box more or less directly connected to an STM1 (155Mb and it still sucks...poor old geocities, could be servers getting a good hammering tho...

I know geocities are crap.....but they are free, and it was convenient for me to use them as the host. As I have said, this will change.

I think I have done well to get up what I have in the short time frame. And all this considering I knew nothing about web design before, and I am using FrontPage for the first time......without a manual!

But if I am accessing the site at home in max of 20 secs, how come you lot are taking ages?????......or is it me and 20 secs IS AGES??

I have been having concerns about the speed of the site since its set-up!
