Question

Bit of a geeky question I'm afraid!!!

I need to interogate an Access database, and come up with a record with several components. The problem I'm getting is trying to display the individual bits of information as HTML code.

Any ideas??? Should I carry on using Access, or try anotehr database like SQL???

Thanks
Andy

Depends on the seriousness of the solution necessary: for small stuff, access is fine. You can even use the publish database option to produce HTML for you automatically.

I use Access on my website to hold all the dynamic data, and retrieve data from it using ODBC (via adodb components), building databases on the fly using ASP.

Let me know if you want any help with these topics...

Although others hate FrontPage I used it to get info from an Access Dbase and then show the results as an html link.

Are you using FP?

Greg,

Thanks for the reply, no it's not Frontpage, but just straight, good old fashioned HTML!!!

The situation is this....

I have static Access database, I want to be able to create a dynamic database by using records from the static one.

I would then like to retrieve the records, either in part or in whole with HTML!

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!
Andy

Hi Andy

If you want to produce results without worrying about the underlying technologies I would recommend Macromedia UltraDev or Frontpage.

Greg is managing to nick 2Gb/month of traffic off my server using frontpage/access so it must work

btw andy, if you want to see what I do, all the pages containing the links are in a access dbase, you can search etc. Basically everything you see in the tables is from an access db.
