Parking on the road - The Law
#1
Does anyone know the law regarding parking a car on a public road. The one I have in question is a 40 mph single carriage, with no parking restrictions in a built up area. I need to know if you have to have parking lights on during hours of darkness and if there would be a problem having a full car cover on the vehicle.
Cheers,
Si.

Why does it run it all together like that Oh well, the bit you wants at the top - yep, you have to have parking lights on...unless you're in a less than 30 zone and parked legally....and as it's a MUST or MUST NOT - it's law.
Sorry for such a crap looking post above Kinda sorted it but it still looks pants

Jen,
Thanks for the info it confirms what a few others have told me. I have a full cover on my car so the parking lights would not be visible, I am using a rear cycle light attached to the wing mirror which I think should be ok.
Do you have any info on car covers, do they need any identification on them such as car reg?
Si.

I used come out of uni to a parking ticket for not having lights on in a 40mph zone because my corsa didn't have parking lights! but rather that than park somewhere dodgy and get my stereo nicked! but scoobs have them so wasn't a problem after the corsa was gone...
