Must have DVDs? hmm, where to start? guess it depends what genre you're into. Here's my suggestions, in no particular order:

* The Matrix (without a doubt THE must have DVD)
* Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (Directors Cut)
* Terminator 2 Special Edition
* Ronin
* Taxi
* Heat
* Aardman Classics (all the pre Wallace and Gromit stuff)
* Morph
* Bod
* The Flumps
* Willo the Wisp
* Alien Legacy box set
* Gladiator (2 disc Special Edition)
* Fight Club (2 disc Special Edition)
* Wallace and Gromit Trilogy
* Chicken Run
* Toy Story collectors edition (TS, TS2, and bonus disc)
* This Is Spinal Tap (2 disc Special Edition)
* Bugsy Malone
* Blade Runner
* The Fifth Element
* Leon
* Taxi Driver
* Goodfellas
* Donnie Brasco
* Casino
* Austin Powers (both of them!)
* Waynes World (both of them)
* X-Men (but wait for ultra special addition!)
* Thomas the Tank Engine
* Contact
* Lost in Space
* Mission Impossible
* Monty Python's Life Of Brian
* Hard Boiled
* From Dusk Till Dawn
* Strange Days
* Johnny Mnemomic (ok, ok, I *know* it's bad, but it's so bad it's good)

Plus all the other classics that you have on VHS.

(edited to add the ones that TRIGGER came up with Plus some others I'd forgot about

Pretty comprehensive, but add X-Men, Fifth Element, Thomas the Tank engine (if you have kids).

AllanB,

Been toying with the idea of getting Bagpuss.

Have you seen all the Bagpuss stuff you can buy in Woolworths?

You can get a Bagpuss with suckers on his feet, like the Garfield's.

Garfield - probably the finest cartoons ever drawn.

Fight Club is the biggest steaming pile of poo I have ever had the misfortune to watch. Complete and utter rubbish. I don't know how I managed to sit through it.

Now the Flumps is classic TV.

Gregh,

According to Total DVD, T1 is due out end 2001 in Special Edition format. No news on Predator.

It is available as part of an Arnie box set I think. Good reason to have your machine chipped if capable.

Question

How can you say MI-2 is "Must have" and Fight Club is crap.
MI-2 is the most unbelievable, self-obsessed steaming pile of dinosaur dung I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Absolutely nothing in the film was believable. Total and utter garbage.
T2 Ultimate is must have as is Matrix and Men in Black Special Edition.
It is advisable to rent first and wait for the Directors Cut or Special Edition discs to be released. Lock, Stock and T2 are fine examples of exactly what you miss when you buy the first tranch of releases.

I really liked Fight Club...

The underlying humour was very good....

Class action against whatever hotel for the urine content of their soup - this really made me laugh...
