Following a beer or two with the boys on Saturday night in the pub, a few suggestion were put forward for holidays in 2003. The favourite being a cruise around Europe by car, visiting several cities and sights along the way.

Now its Monday morning, and the idea still seems as fresh. Probable route could take in Dover, followed by Paris, down to Monaco, see some sights in Italy, ferry to Split, visit a pal in Pristina, up to Germany, through Belgium, see some pals in Holland, and returning to Blighty with a bootful of wine, back to wives and girlfriends who still would not be speaking to us.

Can anyone recommend any sights along the way? I fancy Paris, the old racing circuit at Reims or maybe Le Mans, Pisa to see the tower (for some reason), Lake Garda, the Nurburgring, Prague, Ypres (IMHO every Brit should visit the place and pay their respects) and Amsterdam, and am open to suggestions for "must see" places, or places to stay etc.

While we are on the subject, none of us have suitable cars for munching miles. Don't do renting, so a purchase is in order. For me, favourite is an 80's S class Benz, possibly a 300 or 420SEL with cruise and wind, for a couple of grand. Can anyone suggest better?

Done this sort of thing before. Don't try to do too much or go to too many places - just stresses you out!
