Didnt get a plate off the Vectra.

There is no bodywork damage, but the offside rear wheel now sits at 45 degrees not vertical and the seat is ripped apart at the side where the airbag deployed.

Question

Am I the only one who thinks the Vectra wasn't at all to blame?

Edited:
Misread your post, thought you were behind him queuing to get on to the roundabout - he's obviously to blame

If i had been driving hard, and the Vectra had not stopped across the outside lane of the roundabout then yes i would be to blame i think. He did pull in front of me cos he screeched to a halt across my lane. I guess i didnt anticipate him driving like an ****. But you cant anticipate everyones moves can you.

I wasnt driving hard as the tyres were cold, and i had to swerve from outside to inside lane on the roundabout, which is why i braked, lifted off and turned and the back end came round to my left.

Well after 5 years without a prang i have gone and bent the Clio thanks to ******** in a Vectra.

On a big roundabout, i was coming round, had not been in car long so tyres were cold and he decides to pull out at the last moment and then change his mind.

I meanwhile have stamped on the anchors and the back end has come round. I caught it as it came but it snapped severely the other way and spun me round and i banged the rear on the kerb hard. Side airbag went off right in my ear, which was a bit painful. Meanwhile ******** has driven off.

Cant fekkin believe it. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hang on, the vectra didn't hit you. didn't drive in front of you (would he of hit you if he didn't stop?) and wasn't physically involved in the accident. How fast were you going round the roundabout? couldn't you anticipate drivers pulling out at roundabouts? (happens all the time so have to be extra vigilant).
If you'd hit a pedestrian I don't think a policeman/court in the land would accept blaming someone else who technically wasn't involved.

This is not a slate against you (and I can only go on your description above to determine course of events) as I appreciate other drivers can do daft things that make us react but we learn and anticipate more (especially as driving standards are deteriorating on our roads daily).

What a pain in the ***

Sorry to hear about your accident and @ some of the other comments. So, for example if on the way home tonight I see another car waiting at a junction, roundabout or side road onto the road I am currently travelling along. This car then pulls out right in front of me, and I brake and miss him, ending up in a ditch somewhere while they drive off undamaged - this is my fault? Thanks for enlightening me!

If this is the case, then I shall endeavour to stop on the carriageway and check verbally with the driver of said vehicle to confirm that he is not going to pull out in front of me - before continuing merrily on my way. Or should I get something in writing as well? Perhaps a letter from a parent? Signed affadvit? Awww - I think I'll get the bus.

Guilty until proven innocent is the ScoobyNet way!

Is it a 172? My mate spun his 172 on a muddy deposit on the road and wrecked his wheels of the kerb as described. It took months to get fixed because he had to wait for some tiny, near pointless washer thing from France.....really hope Renault have got their finger out with production of this part so yours can be fixed pronto.

Not getting involved in the 'who's to blame' debate, I wasn't there so don't really know what happened.

Yeah it is a 172. Apparently my companys insurers dont rate the Renault dealer as an authorised repairer - lol !!!

Its gone to another place, which means it should be fixed first time and will get a clean too. All IMHO of course.

Ahh the pleasures and stigma that come with Vectra ownership, I knew there was a reason I bought one

The "who's to blame" debate sounds fairly simple (uh-oh...). If going round a roundabout, you have priority. Anyone who doesn't (like a car coming out of a side road) should manoeuvre in a way that does not cause you to change your speed or direction, ie brake or steer sharply. He did. So he's to blame.

No witnesses?

Simple Highway Code : Give way to people from the right. If you were coming round the roundabout, you had right of way. It's kind of hard to anticipate every single person's intentions on the road....

Just had a damage report - new wheel, tyre, axle, wheel hub, seat, airbag and pyrotechnics - around £3200

Oh well at least they will clean it

As long as Renault get the parts there in the next 2 days it will be done on Friday, other than that it will be week after New Year.

Fingers crossed.

I've taken the attitude that if anyone pulls out in front of you, hit them. If you avoid them and hit someting else they'll either drive off or the police will attempt to do you for driving without due care, I've seen this happen to friends.

At least if you hit them, you can get some use out of Claims Direct et al.

Don't even start me on how crap Renault dealers are

Sorry to hear of your mishap Druddle can I ask was it the roundabout near the Horse and Groom Pub?

On another note I have noticed that the speed camera in Crownwood is being reconnected to the mains, due to I think someone who was probably caught speeding cutting the power source to it! LOL
It looks like the workmen are now covering the cable with concrete, but I am sure that someone will find a way to disable it again.

After inspecting the invoice i think the body shop have either made mistakes or are trying to pull a fast one.

They have charged for 2 wheels, 2 seatbelts and tensioners, and i am only aware that one of each was damaged and replaced.

Hmmm.
