£150 for an IRON?? Is this normal? And what's wrong with a £30 jobbie from Comet?

She must enjoy ironing!

Bought my last iron in 1989 (Rowenta), did the job fine. Got married, inherited a teenage son, suddenly there's more ironing about. Did the research, best normal iron I could find was the Philips (GC4040??) which had the most features and chucked out the most steam. Took the old iron to parents, who use one once a fortnight. Wifey quite likes the new one, we went back to parents and she used the old favourite, HATED it!

The more steam you get, the easier the ironing. Ours was 60 quid not 150, but there are two disadvantages; it uses water quite quickly (as it would, kicking out so much steam), and you can't see the water level.

We have 10 shirts to iron a week, plus all other stuff, so an iron that eases the task is good. With hindsight I might have gone for a biggie. Depends on your iron load and your disposable income!

My mums got one of those irons. She loves it as she can iron shirts and trousers hanging up on a hanger by holding it about an inch away and blasting steam at them.

Suppose its a good idea if it keeps the Enemy happy....

I have one of these, used to pay someone to do the ironing but was beginning to get a bit much. Defo saves lots of time now in credit compared to my ironing service :-)
