Don't think you are able to do this any more as handguns are banned now. I think even the Olympic pistol shooters have to go to France to practice now?

so it looks like my best bet is an air pistal.
Whats the best air pistal that can fire a few shots without reloading and pumping it every time? looking around £50-£90

No pistols or high powered rifles. Best u can get is .22 rifles now. See http://www.minirifle.co.uk/frames/fhome.htm
If u really want pistol shooting then it will have to be air pistol or C02. C02 is better due to semi-auto fire. Many clubs offer practical pistol ranges now whereby ur timed shooting x number of targets that pop up. Will include a couple of reloads so u dont want to be missing. Very cheap to get into - decent C02 target pistol is £150+ then its just C02 gas, ammo (£6 for 500 approx) and club membership fees.

come on over to Belfast and have your choice. You can do over and under kneecaps, side by side kneecaps, drive-by's, pistols, anything you fancy really. (We tend to keep the long range sniper stuff for the countryside though, so bring your wellies )

I have a Gamo match (air) pistol. .177 calibre, uses a pump action, no spring, so no recoil like a CO2 gun, but much cheaper.
It's for shooting on a 10m range BTW.
Cost about £120 in '97ish I think, probably considerably more now, especially since pistols are illegal.

Hi Ray,
You are not allowed to own or have in your possession a cartridge pistol on the mainland of the UK. It is possible to shoot pistol, with some difficulty, overseas and, indeed, our Commonwealth Games Team trains in Switzerland (Mick Gault took three Golds and a Bronze )
Easiest way in, therefore, is Air Pistol. For advice, and address of nearest suitable club, contact NSRA, Lord Roberts Building, Bisley Camp, BROOKWOOD, Surrey GU24 0PB 01483676969.
Good Luck

Try here for an idea on prices. My brother has the Walther CP88 in nickel with walnut grips and 6 inch barrel (is about £160). Is very accurate and easy to shoot.

Clay Shooting is a hoot as well. I've been once with a few of the chaps from SN, and it was great. Not the cheapest hobby to get into, but good fun, apart from the bruises! lol

Not entirely correct.
You can shoot FAC rated air pistols, these are pre-charged and will fire around 50 shots inbetween charges. They are 10 times more powerful than puffy CO2's.You can do 6 months probation at the club, then get your own ticket.
However non-FAC the best pistol would be the HW45, maximum legal power.
You can still get some Black Powder Rifles, that didn't get wiped out with the handgun ban.
Really depends on what you want to do, and why you want to do it.
Cheers
