Look at the small print. All policies have a condition requiring ANY changes to the info provided on the original proposal to be advised immediately to the company. Failure to do this would certainly give grounds for repudiating any claim.

Does that mean that they'll sort you a refund when the points are no longer within their reporting timescales ?

The small print on my insureance says that I have to inform them at the time of renewal if I have aquired any points, or if points are pending.
check your policy, no point doing it till you have to, but then you don't want to do it if you don't have to!!
BTW I'd be interested to know what effect it had - my insureance jumped 28% when I told my insurers
