Is it illegal or just stupid...

for a cyclist to ride on the road, at night, with no lights? Travelling at about 50 last night down a very dark country A-road, 2 cars and a van in front. Suddenly the front car slams on its brakes cos this prat on a bike has just materialised out of the dark. No lights fitted and not even a reflector, wearing dark clothes. Must have a death wish.

It is against the law and they can be fined for it. It is also very stupid!! Thing is, they hardly ever get caught. Sad but true!
