The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring - Director's Extended Version DVD
#1
I thought it was going to have the Two Towers trailer on ? I've looked through the documents that came with the DVD as well as the index on each disk and I can not find the trailers.
Can anyone tell me where they are?
Thanks

Nimbus - Have you actually watched the movie yet? I haven't been brave enough to start it first film I have seen to be split over two DVDs!
I have looked at the extras but couldn't find the trailer, saying that I was rushing through it. Sorry for a completely unhelpful post!¬

Paul, not really... The extended version is on 4 disks (2 for the film and 2 for the extras). I suspect the two version have a lot of difrerences so not sure if it will be in the same place, but I'll see if it helps. Thanks.
Matt, No, not watched it yet. Not sure where I'm going to find 3hrs 10 mins of free time

Well, had another look on all the discs last night and could not find it, so it seems like Play.com have made a mistake in describing the disc's contents. Oh well. I'm stil glad I've got the extended version though.

I got mine from Play.com and had a quick flick through last night and the extras scenes look good (more Legolas bow action) but noticed problems with the DTS and Dolby 5.1 soundtracks. Have written to r2-dvd.com to see if anyone else has reported it. Two problems I've noticed so far when comparing it to my two disk version. Can anyone with a home cinema setup check to see if it happens on theres? If not then maybe I got a bad dupe, both disks affected though.
1. When Boromir has arrived in Rivendell and is holding the hilt of the broken sword, as he cuts the top of his finger on the blade there is an unusual hihg pitch beeping sound that continues until after he has dropped the hilt. On the two disk version there are birds singing in the background instead.
2. The other takes place at Lothlorien, while Boromir is talking to Aragorn about the plight of his fathers kingdom and there planned return to the White City. Listen to Boromirs dialogue after Aragorn says "I have seen the White City, long ago." There is a definate hiccup in the sound. Small but noticeable on my home cinema setup.
Bit peaved as it really spoils it for me because the main reason to get this edition was for DTS.

The sound drop outs and pops etc have been attributed to pitch correction, which is a technique way above my level of understanding that tries to account for the 4% speedup in the conversion from NTSC to PAL.
Haven't had a chance to watch to my copy yet, but I will do tonight.
Andrew.

The two hidden 'easter eggs' can be found here (on R1 and R4 anyway, there are rumours that the Jack Black Council of Elrond scene was cut from R2 due to dodgy UK censorship rules )
To access The Two Towers sneak peek trailer that was shown briefly in theaters at the end of The Fellowship of the Ring, go to the last page of the scene selections menu area and select the number "48" on the far right-hand side of the screen. Then navigate "down" to reveal a hidden Two Towers symbol. Press "Enter".
To find this one, go into the Scene Selection menu on disc one, and head to the final page where you'll find the real Council of Elrond scene. Highlight that scene and press "down" to find an image of the Ring. Press enter to view the entire clip from MTV complete with an introduction from Peter Jackson.

I'm gonna wait till all three films are released and then buy the 27 DVD boxed set with all the extras including the 'making of the cameras that are used in the making of the film' and the 'behind the scenes look at the home of the director who still cant believe people bought the 27 DVD box set'.
Should be good.
(read with a mildly sarcastic tone, similar to that used by John cleese when talking about the Germans).

Out of curiosity, where have people bought the Super Special Silver Extended Edition (or whatever it's called), the £25 one, not the £45 one?
I usually get my stuff from Play but in this case they will ship direct from the states and the risk of import duty therefore exists. So, anyone else recommend someone who doesn't ship direct from the states who will supply Region 1 discs?
Ta,
Matt
