Just starting my 17 hour shift grrrrrrrrrrrr
Was on call last night and sods law on my last night on call some stupid muppet pulls a disk drive out a server and i get called in. I didnt get home till about 1am then i had to come in and do a day shift then a back shift over 17 hours in total. IS THIS ALLOWED i am kinda thinking NO !! Should i go to my boss and tell him he`s a D**K for making me work these Hours or ask him for lots of money

did you sign the european hours amendment thingy saying you were willing to work more than 40 hours a week ?
if you did then your screwed.
if you call you boss a dick, can you afford to lose your job ?
if you lose your job will you be able to get another one ?
I hate my job, the most hours I have done in 1 week is 108.5 & dont forget the .5
I know how you feel working long shifts but life sucks & until you win a double roll over on the lottery ya got to keep working.

Dont mind my job
But the last few weeks management have been treating us Out Of hours / on call guys like crap.
I did this big presentation etc etc and my boss took all the praise for it and even edited so it said it had been done by him

I also go on call for my job, I'm on call at this moment in time.
If I get called in in the middle of the night, that then takes me close to normal working hours. I wait until the normal dayshift come in, then go home after a very quick hand over.
My boss seems to be ok about this, but then again I dont really give him an option about it.

I had the same this year Colin, currently on betablockers to keep my blood pressure down.
Never thought it could ever happen to me.
The positive side is I asked my boss to take a lot of my responsibility away and he did.
If your stress is work related, when you go back, if your employer does nothing to help and you go sick again, you can take him for up to 50K. I've been on several courses related to stress.
