Hey up,
I have never bothered with credit cards before but now need one to put expenses on for some work related travel trips to Asia.
Are all cards valid worldwide??
Not bothered about all there fund transfer deal they are all on about as it is the first time.

Is there any thing to look for/avoid when choosing one?

Any tips greatly appreciated

For travelling around the world, take 2 kinds of card from: Visa, Mastercard or Amex. That way you won't get stuck if only one type is accepted.

Amex are pretty good abroad. If you don't mind paying the annual fee, go for a green or gold card. There are certain things included like insurance etc.

Just my 2p's worth.

If your going to Asia a basic word of advice is try not to lose sight of your credit card even more so than you would do in the UK.
In my experiance MBNA are pretty good and you can also access your credit card statements on line (i think up to 6 months back dated) Handy if you will be using it for business and need to keep good records, i also think halifax have just released a new card with a fixed low apr (11.9?). Im not sure about Amex my uncle had one and could never find any where to use it (I may be wrong) Visa and Mastercard are probably your best bet and if you earn enough to get a gold or platnium you normally get some sort of free travel insurance if you buy the tickets on your card and possibly other benifits.

egg seem good, full online access etc and running as ever a 0% scheme, plus you get cash back on every purchase and if you racked up thousands of pounds in expenses it could work out very much in you favour! try em
