My fella told me this last night and I don't know if he's winding me up or not!! He said that Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham is going to court to stop Peterborough United calling themselves 'The Posh' cause that name is more synominous with her now?!?!?! Is that true? Cause if it is, the stupid bitch wants a good slap! She ain't that important!!!

How can she even claim the name as since when has she ever been referred to as 'the posh'????

Peterborough chairman Peter Boizot filed the application to trademark the club nicknames "Posh" and "The Posh" in August 1998.
According to the Peterborough United official website, the nickname has been with the club since its inception in 1934.
It is the football team trying to register both The Posh and Posh and Victoria Beckham who has opposed it. Presumably because she is smart enough to know that a money grabbing football team that no longer has the TV money to rely on will immediately sue her for trademark infringement the next time she tries to associate herself with the word Posh.

Aren't some of us missing the point a bit here?
What Victoria Beckham is objecting to is that Peterboro' United want to REGISTER the name "Posh" as their trademark.
I can see her problem:
1. THEY could then object to HER using it, and
2. she could easily end up APPEARING to endorse products from said club, pretty embarrassing when hubby is captain of England, but doesn't play for P'boro.
Cynical mode on: you have to wonder if someone at P'boro had the very same idea?

Also, it doesn't really matter who had the name first, so long as neither registers it. I bet that if you did a survey round the country, and asked people who they think of when the name "Posh" is mentioned, she'd come out WAY on top.
BTW: I also think she's one of the most attractive women in the country, and I normally prefer blondes. (Have to say that, as wifey may read this post!!)

Ah that puts a different spin on it. If Peterborough Utd are that dumb that they are only know registering the names then that is their own fault.

When you asked "is it true", I thought the topic would be about how the BBC were referring to her post-kidnap as "the pop star".
I always thought the Beeb were accurate about their journalism, and so would have said "ex- pop star" or "failed pop star"...
Comment in the Guardian today about how David Beckham might then be going after Beck's Beer for the same reason.
