Maybe I should have re-phrased that to

'The standard of threads in the Scoobynet general'

I bid you good day.

has anyone had any problems using a double LNB on a $ky sat dish?

I've had 3 different ones since it was upgraded 3 weeks ago and none of them work (i.e. "no sat signal" intermittently, well nearly all the time actually, on sparodic channels on both digiboxes joined to the dish).

what should I get the $ky engineer to do, he's coming later today. I just get the feeling the double LNBs don't work and they should give us a quad or two dishes perhaps.

The focus of the satellite dish is only at one point. If you have two LNBs they can't be both at the focus, so you'll get signal degradation. Two dishes would be a better bet.

Question

carl - thanx for the info. I should have been a bit more precise in my description of the problem, as I dont have two LNBs, it's one LNB with dual connections on it.

The 5ky engineer has been to have ANOTHER look, and he has suggested that a QUAD LNB should fix the prob. What d'you think?

Well,I was thinking of keeping a record of every time I do a $hite, say over a period of a month and then work out the average amount of $hites per week and ask everybody else on here to do the same and whoever gets the highest score is Scoobynets $hite king(or queen). Now is this $hite thread a good idea or an I just talking $hite?

gimlet -- dunno, but it seems to me that if you're splitting the signal you're going to lose signal strength (3dB is a halving in signal strength). I reckon with a pair of LNBs each will be 3dB down on what a single one would get, and with a quad each will be 6dB down. It depends on how sensitive you LNB is (i.e. the minimum it can get away with as a 'good' signal) and how big your dish is.

Sunday Driver - wouldn't it be more educational to weigh the sh1te and compare the total from month to month? Then we could build a sh1te-meter. Anyone getting a decent score on the meter could be said to be full of sh1te. Like diahorrea, this one could run and run.

Question

Wouldn't the person who's faecal total weighed least be the one who was full of sh1te.
And what about methods of retrieval for those with high density droppings.
