Not for the magistrates court no!!!!
Having paid the £260 for my speeding offence, I have another reminder through stating that I haven't yet paid it and I have till 06/11 to pay it!!!!
I don't fecking think so!!!
I rang them up and they have no record of the fine being paid I have however, a bank statement showing the relevant amount a couple of days after I knew I had sent the cheque off. I cannot find the receipt they gave me which is making me mad at myself.
I need to contact my bank now for proof of payment!!!!!!
FFS, what more do they want??? BLOOD????

Makes me wonder why the heck they are chasing it up now, when I got convicted back in April this year
The transferring section are trying to pass the buck as usual, I can't believe I bothered wasting a phone call on them

As Mark says, your bank holds your cheques for 7 years. The won't charge you to retrieve one.
I had a summer job organising and retrieving cheques. That was mind-numbingly dull. Good preparation for a life in IT.

Ignore it and see what happens.
I had the same (OK, only for £60) and I got three threatening letters and then a court summons.
I turned up to court with my bank statement and a copy of the cheque (Lloyds did this for free).
Magistrate apologised to me and gave the tciket office people a right ear full. OK, had to take the day off, and dig out my suit, but was worth it
P.S I had also lost the receipt as I didn't get the first letter through until four months after I had paid it.
Cheers

Cheers Ian, I could leave it - after all, having to fly back from Oz to the UK for a court appearance would be expensive - I would expect my costs to be re-embursed
Maz - 98 on the motorway was my wrong doing.

You people get off really light over there for speeding. Pretty much anything over 90 on a motorway, or anywhere would result in a minimum 6 month ban, + god knows what fine.
I have never heard of anyone here getting 20 day/ 30 day bans for anything. Its always minimum of 3 months. Things like no insurance here also carry an almost mandatory 6 month ban ( depending on who you are of course...money talks as usual )

don't "bank" on it being free for a replacement / proof of cheque - Natwest charged me 4 quid to prove I'd paid a bill all because of a clearing house fault at the payee's end - a right set of b*nkers

Rich
Watty in a suit ROFLMAO Hey, I rocked.
Michelle,
I would just write straight back to them saying you have already paid the fine quatting the day the cheque was cashed and the cheque number. From there it is up to them.
If they do summons you and you are overseas, well, it would probably be at your own cost to get back, or you can write instead of appearing, spelling out that same details again. No doubt it will get sorted out before it gets to this stage.
Either way, let us know
Cheers
