dont know how that affects people with the box built in their tv

there are free channels available and those who have the old digi boxes and tv's with the incorporated packages are ok and still get them free.

There are loads of free digital channels - all you need is a set-top box or a DVB telly. Channels I can think of off the top of my head that we get are:

BBC Choice
BBC Three
BBC Four
ITN News
The Hits (MTV-like channel)
ITV2
Parliament
S4C
CBBC
CBeebies
BBC News 24
A load of radio stations stuch as 1Xtra and JazzFm.

Now that BBC own the licence that used to belong to ITV Digital, their new company 'FreeView' is going to be broadcasting loads more free channels on digital. If you re-tune you'll find the place-holders for them all, running trailers.
