a mate of mine called me yesterday from a site he was on saying there was a lad there selling makita 24v cordless drills for 70 notes apeice. given the retail of these is £300+ i naturally asked him to get a price for 3.
deal done , 2 for me and one for my mate @£60 a piece. got the drills last night and am seriousley dissaspointed. they are not even makita, but some squashimogi bootleg. the so called one hour fast charge takes 3-4 hours, and the build quality is a bit ropey. on the flip side they are 24v as i put a voltage check on the battery and they seem to do the job-i gave one a good hammering today with no problems but i can't see it lasting long.
the lad selling the drills was a guy in a transit van, and the site was near ellsemere port.
I ve spoken to a couple of builder mates of mine and apparently this is rife.
never mind, you live and learn.

You asked a mate to buy cordless drills of a guy in a transit van ?
This gives the thieving barstards more of an excuse to go and nick some more...
(Flamesuit on )

Over here we call them Thieving Gypsy B**tards, or various other things. Same thing, white transit, trying to sell all sorts of things cheap. Special price for cash.
Only thing is 99% of the population here know better than to give any money to them. It can be power tools, TV's videos, hi-fis... the list goes on.
Mite be best to stall them, and try and phone the cops. Not that they ever do anything. Ive seen these Gypsy gits just waltz onto sites, and steal things right in front of your eyes. They just dont care, because they know the law cannot, or will not do anything.

As stevieturbo said "thieving gypsy barstewards" and I'm sure they had a good look around the site to see if they could "acquire" some new stock!

I work in Ellesmere Port and it's fill of "Dids" as we call them. It is the easiest place in the UK to sign on for the dole apparently, hence the large number of caravan's in any unused carpark. Never buy from a guy, all they sell is sh*te or it's nicked. Next time they come on a site your on just give them a kicking and throw em down a trench.
Just a thought the guy may have belived they were puckka as we all know none of them can read!!!!
Mac.
PS: Hope the drill's last a while mate!!

LOL @ Alcazaar. Over here that would be sooo politically incorrect. Very true all the same, as they are.
While on the subject anyway, I prefer the Panasonic SDS 24v Drill. It may not be the most powerful, but it is very light, has 2 good 3Ah NimH batteries, and a 45 min charge. Any others I looked at were very heavy and bulky. Got mine for £360 incl VAT, legit of course.

Chris B - What's wrong with the P word - so Thieving Gypsy B**tards is OK, but words rhyming with spikey are not ??????
I'm not trying to be a smart **** - I genuinely don't know what's wrong with it.......
If you have to edit posts, then can you try to keep some context - I'm sure loads of guys in white transits are fine - it's the thieving gypsy b**stards you have to watch out for.....

Replacing with 'guy' destroys the sense of the original posts. Surely you could have come up with something better?
WTF?
asians are usually ok to deal with, if i'd have known it was a guy i would have thought again.

Hey, I'm a guy and often travel as a passenger in a transit van, I'm severly offended by this post as it casts dispersions over all guys in white transit vans. Please do not use the word guy.

Buyer beware.
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is!
If you belive that you can buy a £300 Drill for £60 of a dodgy geezer in a van and it's going to be pukka, far play mate. Keep taking the tablets....
