Passed a big yellow camera at the side of the road today and was concerned that I may have been speeding - the real irony is I wasn't in my 270bhp scooby but a 50bhp 1.0 polo!!. Anyway, it was towable (i.e. had wheels and a towbar), was yellow and had what appeared to be a CCTV camera and other apparatus at the top of a large arm. It was pretty well concealed No flashes are anything like that. Was it likely to have been a speed camera? It was on the A1 and there was another one a bit further round the Edinburgh City Bypass.

Not sure about the camera, but rest assured the polo speedo will be wrong to give ppl a sense that they are not in a slow 1.0 polo !!! Therefore i'm sure you werent speeding
I am also quite relieved the car had wheels

I'm kind of hoping the speedo was a little out as well. I'd guess my true speed may have been somewhere between 75-80mph which means it could be hit and miss if it was a camera. The real irony is I always cruise home at 3000rpm in the scooby (exactly 72mph) but because the Polo is so underpowered I fly along in it without thinking too much and usual driver as fast as the rest of the traffic...i.e. speed
