No one's gong to do it for free though are they, unless they are very nice people indeed. It is not without risk, as well as the time and skills and equipment needed.

Depends who your mates are, and how good mates they are.

Sorry I don't live nearer mate (or have the relevant skills ), otherwise I'd certainly have helped. My theory is you never know when the person you help out can eventually help you out. (if that makes sense)

Ok here's what I posted, just hold on for a reply, If I get one of course

***Anyone in the area might like to oblige a friend and fish it out for him.
It's either worth a shed load of money or it has a high sentiment value !!
he says it must be got " at all costs".
perhaps someone will have his b***s off if he doesn't get it back
;-)))))))))
He knows the spot where he lost it. he recons 15m down !!! dunno how he
knows that tho.
here's the link to where we are chatting about it anyway.

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?ThreadID=139794

post here or there. I'll see he gets your message.

Oh and there is money involved for successful retrieval.

Andy***

Andy,

Where abouts is this lake in Milton Keynes?
Is it the lake you can see from the M1 on the West side of the motorway
that they use for water-skiing?
Is it normal water or polluted at all?
When did he lose it?
When is he available to point out roughly where it went in?

Question

Sorry to sound stupid, but why not just claim on the insurance and buy another watch?

The watch was my grandads and isn't worth all that much and although I will get it back I don't want to have to start offering £500-£1000 pounds to recover a seventy pound watch.

Try DiveCity in MK. The dive in the local lakes/pits. There is also a dive shop in Fenny Straford that may be able to help

For those who are interested the diver who replied on here, Rod Bateman has just found my watch thanks to Fuzz for placing the advert that got his attention.
