Orange Equity

Did anyone sign up for this when it first came out, amassed several thousand points only to learn by chance that it closed last Friday and all your points (which you could redeem against your bill or some sh*tty offers!) have been flushed down the pan ?!!!

I got 2 or 3 letters saying it was ending, and a call from them offering to upgrade my phone at a discount if I redeemed all my points with them.
Got an 8310 for £49.99 in the end and am a happy bunny.
Did you not get the letters? One was along with my normal bill.

I tried to cash my point sin a few weeks ago but couldn't get through. They then extended the deadline by one week until last friday, because everyone left it until the last minute, allowing me to redeem my 14500 points.
I'm sure if you moan at them enough they will sort you out. I managed to barter them down from £150, when it came to upgrading my phone, to £0. Just threaten to leave them for Vodaphone or something.. It worked for me.

I managed to cash my points in a few weeks back...the letter from Orange announcing the end of this scheme was spouting some bullsh1t about consumer research showing that customers had other priorities when it came to Orange's service and therefore they would be concentrating their efforts elsewhere! More profit is probably a more accurate reason.

Key differentiators for Orange's service were:
* Orange Care (insurance)
* Equity points (get free gifts for calls you were going to make anwyay)
* Free 0800 access
Now they've got rid of Care (e.g. new 'Your Plan' 200 minute tariff costs £30 + £5 for Care, my Everyphone 200 tarriff is £30 including Care), and Equity. Free 0800 calls next?

I knew it was ending and tried for a week to get through - never worked. Phoned Customer Services and enquired as to what was going on and they said they were experiencing computer problems and that you'd be able to get through on the last day - guess what - no joy again on the last day, Equity service was down....
Bunch of ar$e - gonna complain......

Great loyalty scheme. I've been with Orange for the last few years. I cashed all my points in just before the cut off date and managed to get 100 free minutes talk time credited to each of my next by bills up to end of Feb.
Shame they decided to do away with it
