Jessops sell pukka darkroom black-out stuff. The blind runs in a channel so it's 100% light-tight. Has to be custom fitted, though.
Best plan might be to fit some regular curtains, lined with silver-foil type opaque material. Try John Lewis. The silver lining is important to stop the room getting too hot in bright sun.
Sleep well.
Richard.
PS Why not use the blind-fold you keep in your bedside cabinet alongside the cufflinks
Edited to add, get some bikers' ear-plugs, too.

Work shifts and want to keep the room as dark as possible so I can sleep better off nights. Anyone know where I buy a cheap bit of kit to block the sun out. Was thinking of some form of blackout curtain that is made from a thick material. Ideally curtains as going to be easy to take when I move house. Cant seem to find anything suitable online.
Ideas anyone?

M8 what you need are 'blackout linings'. You can get these from any decent curtain shop. Bascially they attach to the same hooks as your curtains and you get to keep the nice pattern of your curtains with the blackout linings on the inside. They work a treat.

I stuck some thick linings in my curtains ever since the people in the house behind us took to leaving their 500 watt floodlight on all night
Much better.
{Edit to say as Russ suggests, try a curtain shop - maybe Yellow Pages?}

I'm looking for some screaming bloody kids in the street outside blackout devices so the little herberts dont keep me awake when I come off nights - any ideas?

Shark just had curtains priced up to sew dark lining in them, small curtains.
They have to take out old lining and sew new in they are giveing us a price of..................wait for it for 1 small pair
£102.25 WOW
looks like we might have to look like fools and stick to carboard at windows.
Please can you tell us where we can buy the other type that you hook on.
