What are the ins and outs of selling(private) when you are still paying h.p.... do you need to settle up with Finance co. before attempting to sell.Can't go down the trade in route as I ain't looking for a replacement(van). Any advice please.( can't find the hp agreement , i know this would probably give the answers)

You have to clear the HP when you sell (not before you start trying). It will show up on an HPI check so be open and honest with buyers.
I've bought 1 car that still had HP on it. Went with seller to Finnace co offices - gave money to seller who then gave money to finance co. I saw it being agreed finance co had no further interest in car. I then paid balance to seller. Everyone happy.
