Question

Yes, it is in the right place.

Selling my Klien frame and taking all the goodies off it to put on a new Specialised frame. Thought I might take the oppertunity to swap from XTR V brakes over to discs. Haven't looked at whats happened in the world of disc brakes for about 2 years so am looking for advice.

Do I want cable or hydraulic?
2 pot or 4 pot?
Want good robust hubs, any suggestions?
What make of brakes for good availability of spares?

Oh and anyone wanna buy a MY00 Attitude comp frame?

Ta.

I can't believe no-one on here has an opinion on disc brakes for mountain bikes.

Definately go for full hydraulic set up - more power and much better feel than a cable operated disk.

Have a go on a bike equipped with either 2 pot or 4 pot Hope's and you'll never want to go back to canties again. Alternatively Shimano now do 4 pot calipers/ disks to mate to their own hubs. Performance not meant to be quite as good as the Hopes but will be slightly cheaper and in my view the Shimano hubs are better.

Chris.

Hope discs and shimano hubs go together no problem. I've got hope xc4 4pots on my xc bike and find them fine, no problems.
As has been said, dont bother with anything other than hydraulic disc brakes.
Hope mini's are pretty cool looking but i havent tried them yet.
Formula B4 Racing also get some pretty good reviews and are VERY light (something you might appreciate coming from XTR v brakes)
