Silver EVO 6 smashed up...........
#1
There's a car recovery place near where I work and parked out the front this morning is a silver EVO 6 with some serious front end damage. S *** YHK.
I hope the driver was OK, I think the airbag was deployed.
Always sad to see a nice car in such a bad state.

It is a shame when you see nice/good cars damaged or destroyed.
Felt really sorry for the owner of the Skyline I saw demolised on the M32 a while back.
Rivalery between the cars is fine when it is good natured but I would never wish to see someone's pride and joy damaged. (Except maybe Ford Ka)

definately a ford ka, even if your a good driver they are almost impossible not to crash, I had one as a courtesy car a few months back,
If you can get your hands on one, try this.....
you need one roundabout, bit of rain, and anything over 20mph,
the result, it wont go round.....
ha, death to the ka

I had a Ka as a courtesy car when a previous car was having some repairs done.
May goodness it was scary and the dash was a metalic blue. I got home parked up and waited for the phone call to say the car was repaired.
It handled in a way that redefined unconnected... no feedback from the car to what it was doing, unresponsive engine and putting it in a corner was a gamble every time (damp roads).
Not a pleasent drive at all, I have never been so pleased to have big "courtesy car" stickers on a vehicle in my life!

We've got a Ka as a sceond car and I love to drive it. I find the steering extremely comunicative and the car is very well set up for a small front driver.

Had one as a second car for a couple of years. Not one for the motorway but on slower twisty roads it was fantastic fun. Can't wait to see what the Street KA is going to be like to drive. Could be very tempting for a bit of fun.

Our Ford Ka has been one of the most enjoyable cars I have ever owned & i've owned a lot including 6 Scoobies over the years. I'm 6"3 and it's a minute smidgen too small to be entirely comfortable when driving distances, but every drive I've had in it over the last year has been extremely enjoyable and has not put a foot wrong AT ALL!!!!! even to the point that I have decided some days to take it over the Impreza and the Lotus. It's a fantastic handling car. Read every mag report any they'll all say the same.
Either the actual car you drove was crap or............

Well it could well have been the fact that the tyres were rubbish and it was the lowest spec Ka in the range... I just didn't find it nice to drive.
I assume that courtesy cars from the Dixon group are not the best ones going!
Someone has to agree the metalic blue platic dash was nasty though! Surely!!

Hmmm, interesting. I had a Ka as a courtesy car for a few weeks earlier this year and I found it handled much better than I expected.
This was a good thing as on my way home from work night I made a bit of a ****-up. I was commuting 2 hours each way at that point and I'd been kept very late at work by a stroppy server, so I was very tired. Anyway, my concentration tripped out for a moment and when I switched back on I found I was heading into a corner I'd normally do no more than 50mph round, (I didn't have the Scoob then), at in excess of 70mph. By this point it was too late to lift off and I didn't dare brake. I damn near shat myself. Still, the Ka went round the corner, practically on two wheels, but it did cope. I don't think the little FWD hatchback I normally drove, and that the Ka was temp. replacement for, would have done it.

Yeah ok, there's no need for the scary dash and I must admit it's totally and utterly crying out in agony for a better engine but they're a hoot
The oily bits are virtually the same as my Fiesta except I have anti roll bars and a 1600 engine, I give Scoobs a hard time in mine (on the twisties of course)

All this tosh about Ford Ka's... learn to drive ffs.
These are the cars I haved owned:
AX GT
MX-5 1.8i
Elise
Esprit GT3
Civic VTEC (MK 3)
Evo VI TME
Civic Type-R
My mum has a Ford Ka and it is without doubt one of the best handling cars I have ever driven - dry roads or wet. Ok sure, the engine is rank but that will be sorted in the upcoming face-lift but on a purely handling / steering / ride front it's absolutly first class (almost as good as my Type-R in the dry, a whole league ahead in the wet)
I think the problem is that most people who own Scoobies/Evo's etc think they are great drivers because they can go round corners fast when in fact they are anything but. This was my main gripe with the Evo. It's too easy to drive. I'm not saying it's not great car but just remember that in most circumstances the car is working far harder then the driver.

Mattel - Looking at the number of posts disagreeing with your opinion on Ford Ka's you may need to reconsider.
I am picking up mine tomorrow. Test drives so far have been fun and I am really looking forward to owning one of my own.
If you are lucky you may even get to see it at the next Surrey meet!!

oh my god I cant believe I'm hearing this!!!!
No matter how good handling the ford ka has, it is one of the ****test looking cars I have ever seen!! There is no excuse for bumpers that big!! Its far too small a car, there are too many on the road......
I truly think it is my most hated car ever! Done to a budget. How can ford sell brand new cars without central locking no matter what model it is. Buy a jap car and you get everything!
Lets face it, Ka or Yaris....I'd have the yaris any day!

Bollocks. The Ka kicks *** as a driver's car, it is a better replacement for the original Mini than the BMW MINI will ever be. My wife has one and it drives like a go-kart, goes where you point it and will tear around corners & roundabouts faster than many of the other cars on the road. Underpowered, yes, but the steering is communicative and the car has no vices. Change your tyres or learn to drive.
As for looks? The rear end could do with some work, but the rest of the car is fine. And can Scooby owners really comment on ugly cars?

i had one as a courtesy car but was unable to drive it much cos they hadn't stickered it up as a courtesy car :/
The body roll was rediculous and the engine just seemed to make a lot of noise for not doing anything. Seats had to be the worst thing after the godawful bumpers and 10" wheels

i also believe the engine is the endura engine which is about 40 years old. So im told anyway.
I was just saying originally that I wouldnt have one thrown at me, I thought it was very poor to drive and have now told ford that whenever I have a courtesy car, i wont have one.
I will have anything over it, even an escort van.
Just my opinion

When designing the KA Ford were going to use a new 3 cylinder multi valve engine but the engine got shelved so they had to use the old 1.3 instead, apparntly it is the only thing they had that was suitable, the 1.25 zetec wasnt for some reason.

The Ka's are okay, for their size, they are pretty good and fun to throw around. Nothing special, but then, they aren't meant to be are they?
Who are they aimed at advertising wise.......? Precisely so don't expect miracles, 'cos they don't happen......often !!!!
Not as good as the Puma for sure, that is definitely one of the best small car coupes around
Wouldn't mind having one again.

my mom has a puma and its great if a little dodgy shape inside for tall people. When you go to look over your right shoulder to change lane you smack your head
I think its got the same chassis etc as my Zetec-S, except she has 1.7vct hehe..
I didn't know you could specify to Ford that you don't want a certain car, i'm doin that next time!!!
