This is a serious question.
My gf's puppy started it's periods about two weeks ago and hasn't properly stopped. She's left her marking's everywhere and her umm......has gone really big!
I have a jackrussel also and she's 9 now, and can't remember her taking so long......
Just asking....b4 taking her to vets....vets are very expensive, though i wouldn't hesistate to take (Daisy) there i would rather know if it's normal.
Thanks,
Phil

Not a vet but I would say that a huge ummm.... and 2 weeks isn't anything to worry about.
My (female -of course-) Boxer had a huge errr...and it lasted for 3 weeks.
If the leaving marks is a big prob stick a pair of chopped up tights on her could save you a fortune in cleaning of replacing carpets.
The dog will however look daft as **** and your mates may take the pi$$ for dressing up yer dug
Hope this helps

"Normal" timing is around 10 to 14 days, but if it goes longer than that get her to the vets.
A swollen vulva (thats the word you are looking for ) is entirely normal.
Biggest problem is that if a season (doggie word goes on too long they are open to infections in their womb.
If your girlfriend doesn't intend to breed her, you'd be as well to get her spayed, its much healthier (and cleaner ) in the long run. Vet will advise.
Hope this helps

And when / if they do spay her, make sure that everything is removed - if a little bit of the ovaries are left, the dog will still go into season and can get phantom pregnancies as a result.

"Seasons" can last longer than two weeks, my dog was on heat for 3 weeks last time, markings are a bit on the yukky side
I promise this isnt a wind up, as long as your dog doesnt rip them off, a pair of knickers usually works a treat to stop the mess (or tights as pg said - depends on how much ridicule you are willing to take on behalf of dog )
