kimera, I completely sympathise with you. I work in IT with a load of great highly intelligent guys and we all have had enough of it. We get exploited for our time and given little respect, and to top it all, I live in a part of the country where there are so few computing jobs that the pay and conditions are bad too.
I have been thinking lately of either a career change or at the very least a shift in my career path.
If any employers are reading this, please treat your staff well and give them the terms and respect that they deserve!
and if you are looking for intelligent, well qualified guys to be paid and treated well, send me a mail

I've got a great idea for all three of you: the country is crying out for teachers, esp in subjects like IT.
I mean, think of it: a good salary that'll buy you a third hand Mondeo in a few years, taking shedloads of work home every night, being slagged off by the government every turn-end, long holidays, but only at peak periods, so you can never afford to go anywhere decent, all the free abuse you want from the kids, and you've no option but to take it..........need I go on?
The grass is always greener mates, the only option is to retire.
IMHO of course.
And if there are any teachers out there that "absolutely love their job", I can only say:............

I actually quite fancy being a teacher, seriously I d be the third in my family however:
On my current salary I cant afford to buy a house in Reading where I work/live. I know damn well Im earning 10k plus more than I would get as a teacher. From this point of view, economics simply say I cant afford to be a teacher. And no, dropping the scoob wont help because if It would I probably would, sob.
In the mean time Im sitting it out till Christmas bonus time, then Ill consider my options.
