As I was driving today I overtook what I though was an AA van, later on (at the lights) the same van pulled next to me and it turned out to be a police van? Anybody have any ideas on why the heck this police van was yellow?

Aren't the police support vehicles yellow?? Used for everything from putting out crowd barriers to giving out tea to officers controling crowds

Now you mention it it did have something like 'police support' on the side.
