My company is taking my mobile off of me and a colleague this is their idea of cost cutting and I think it's ****!!! I work for a telecomunications company and go out of the office alot but now they have no way of contacting me. How daft is that? I do have a personal mobile so I am not bothered about that but there is no way they are getting the number. Does anyone know if you get taxed for having a company mobile? If so who do I contact to tell them that it's been taken away?

Thanks in advance

I think they will soon realise what a godsend a mobile phone is to a field engineer, and will realise they have dropped a major bollock and give you the phone back.
there is nox taxation on company mobiles.
as you said, DO NOT let them have the number of your personal phone, you may be wise to let a buddy at the office have it in case of emergencies.

You used to get taxed on mobiles but it got canned a few years ago.
Just see how long they can cope with not knowing where you are or what you're doing.
Fancy a kip in the services for 2 hours? bliss

If its that much of a bind, why not use some initiative and find a better mobile phone deal for your company that allows you to keep the phone. We had a similar problem somewhere else where I worked, and after a week's looking around we got a deal for the whole company which cut the bill by 75%.
I'm sure that will earn you some brownie points with the boss...
