Beds!! Why do they take 6-8 weeks to deliver? Why not next day?

Hi,
Trying to buy a new bed sharpish for our rental flat.
Why oh why oh why does it take 6-8 weeks to get a bed & mattress delivered???? I mean, these things should surely be ex-stock. It's not as if they can't predict supply & demand surely in that everything has to be made to order????
Ikea are prob my best bed as if in stock, can get it delivered tommrw. Anyone know of anywhere else that would deliver beds sharpish (ie, next day!).

Will be going to ikea tonight if poss, but checking their website, their stock checker doesn't have much in stock :-(
Will look around at bed shops in Edinburgh......
Studio 1 sounds a bit pricey for a fleabag to sleep on :-))))

They do some pretty cheap pine ones honest! Well under £200.
Although I have my eye on a £900 cherry number they have with a £750 NASA designed matress - mmmm. Stumbled across a place that sells the nasa kit (behind the petrol station on Causewayside) the other day. Unreal comfort but no springs so you might have to work a little harder - ahem - if you know what I mean
