I'm thinking about a 36" TV but think it might be a bit too big for my front room , any thoughts on the view distance ?

the furthest couch is about 12 feet away from the TV at the moment

As long as it's a quality image, ie not blurred or pixelated up close, then there is no such thing as a TV that's too big for a room.

I sit about six foot away from a 43" set, as long as you watch most of the time in day light \ ambient light you shouldn't hurt \ harm your eyes.

I only knock out the lights for movies etc.

I've got a Panasonic 36" and sit about 7 - 8 feet away with no problems.

14ft front room, chair roughly 13ft from 12" B+W portable. No problems.

We have the 36" Toshiba Widescreen TV and our couch is around 10-12 feet away.

Picture quality is amazing.

Is there a certain model of TV you are after?
