Speeding offence - endorsements
#1
Hiya, I've been a bad boy. Caught doing a naughty ninety on a dual carriageway. Already paid my £60 and got 3 points. Thing I don't understand is the endorsement code. Got me a lovely SP60 - described on the DVLA site as 'Undefined speed limit offence'
Does anyone know if this is considered worse than an SP30 with regards to insurance etc? (Sounds dodgy doesn't it? )
Txs

Don't think it really makes a difference. I've had an SP60, SP50 (which was a ban) and an SP30. The only one which really adversely affected my insurance was the ban, and that wasn't until 2 years after I'd had it.
Most insurers I've spoken to have said that they don't really care about any 3-point speeding offence. They will load the premium if you get a 6-point offence, especially if your licence was already clean.
I wouldn't worry about it - although you must notify your insurers, otherwise your cover could be void.

I believe an SP60 is a dual carriage-way or national speed limit offence.
SP30 is a rural (30/40/50) limit offence.
I don't think insurers worry about the difference between the two.
Personally I'd say a driver with 3 SP60's was a safer and less likely to kill driver than 3 SP30's. Of course a driver with a clean licence is either safer/invisible or good at bribing ;-)

I've just received the next stage of my NIP (after admission) to ask me whether I want to go to court or not. They have threatened to up the fine and points if I lose though
I have a good case but should I just bend over and take the punishment and not take the risk?

Floyd - unless you know something about the Judge I'd take the punishment as it stands - the odds are against you - that's assuming you have 734 independent witnesses saying you weren't breaking the law If however you know the Judge has any sort of "Habit" go for it
