I passed my advanced driving test!

Passed my RoSPA Advanced Driving test yesterday
After a disastrous final practice drive on Monday night (OK, so I didn't hit anything, but that's about the only good thing you could say about it), I expected to scrape a Bronze pass if lucky.
But, on the day everything went OK. Not a perfect drive, by any means, but not bad. At the end the examiner managed to stretch out the suspense for 20 minutes before telling me he was awarding me Silver

Puppy,
"You can save 15% on your insurance" - yeah right - where??? Bit of a swizz the claim on the IOM website if you ask me but having said that, it's not the reason I did my tests, it would have just been a bonus.

I checked out the insurance situation before I started, so it wasn't the reason for doing it.
Bit frustrating though, I know RoSPA have had talks with various insurers, but I guess there's not much incentive for them to offer discounts. At the end of the day they don't care whether you are safer or not, the insurance market works on averages, and those of us who drive higher insurance group cars subsidise the rest of the market - even though as individuals we may be less risk.

Passed mine a couple of years ago as well.
Commentary not compulsory anymore since those that have speech impediment or stutter were disadvantaged.
I talked for the full two hours and mouth was as dry as hell but what a buzz when told you had passed it. Cloud nine all day!
The examiner gave me something to aim for.... a free meal for me and the missus if i gave a perfect drive.
Needless to say, that didn't happen, but then again, in the twenty odd years of him examining others, he never did have to pay for a meal.
But then again, he is a scot!!
