Got a minidisc walkman yesterday, the only lead that came with it was an optical one.

I've got the DVP-335 dvd player, but can't remember if it's got an optical output or not.

Cheers,

Mike.

I've got a DVP-S335 (that's the black, rather than the silver model).

It seems to have an optical socket in the back, although i dunno whether it works!

Cheers guys,

was asking from work earlier in case I needed to nip out and get another cable. Hadn't even noticed the socket before with the cover stil in it.

Just got a few minutes to link it up there, showing my age but I'm recording Simple Mind's Live in the City of Light. In my defence we've been decorating, and this was the only cd that wasn't packed away somewhere (thrown in a bag in the loft....).

Thought I was going to have to advertise the DVP-335 as a rare collectors item

Question

Mike,

out of interest, can your 335 play VCDs (Video CDs)?

Just wondering, 'cos the ones that i make via my Apple Mac (and Toast Titanium) don't work

Before you go looking for a handset crack, Sonys need to be chipped internally to play CD/R,CD/RWs

You sure? The ability to play CD-R and/or CD-RW is a function of the laser assembly itself, it's not a software issue. Are you sure you're not thinking of a region hack instead?

As far as I know, the 335 can play CD-RW anyway, can't play CD-R at all, and needs chipping to be multi-region.

Interesting point. Just realised that all my old copies are CDR and not CD/rw.

Will post back with results.

Still would need region upgrade to run copied DVDs though?
