My company has a "hire car for company business" policy, but the cover is third party only, and they won't put much in writing when it comes to personal liabilities and legal cover etc...

Should I be as worried about taking a hire car as I am?

Any comments gratefully received.

Posted also in insurance, but is not getting any attention
Sorry it's not very Scooby related.

Question

Do your company hire from other people, ie Europcar etc??
As seen by what my company do when they hire cars, we either get covered on our company insurance which is fully comprehensive or the hiring company's insurance which is fully comprehensive.
Third party cover doesnt seem right IMHO

Don't want to put too much spin on things, as I want honest opinions...

But no, it didn't seem right to me either. If anything happens then it's my neck and my licence at risk.

Unhappy

That it is
But i would have thought that if your company has a policy it HAS to be fully comprehensive and thus cover ALL employees as such, and if not and as i said before, its through a hiring firm then it should also be fully comp.
The only way round this is to refuse the car and if you have another none scoob then use that and see if you can claim mileage?

The hire car won't be a Scoob - will be something like a Ford focus.

My own car is a Scoob, and I would rather use it, but it could look suspicious to the company if I put on pressure to use it - No win situation or what!

On all our cars we only have third party cover. Works out cheaper to take the hit ourselves for any fault accidents.
