And the ninja bike camera; Round here it’s usually a plain black/silver BMW GS with no markings on the sides. Rear chevron in yellow/red like a HGV, Only the front fairing has the police jam sandwich. Operator wears plain black leathers and baseball cap, also removes his hi-vis.

Went past this one setting up last week: Must be a different bike or they’ve had complaints and stickered the tank and sides so at least its a bit more obvious and the bloke was wearing his high vis...note he’s hiding behind parked cars. By the time you‘ve spotted him it’ll be too late to do anything except flip him a vee.

edit: Yeah different bike. Earlier ones was definitely a 1200GS as they had no side fairing, this is a fully faired jobby so guess it’s a 1200RT or something similar (not well versed on BMW bikes..just know the RT has fairing the GS doesn’t )

Anyhoo with the sneaky sods, definitely need one good at picking up laser detectors. Radars generally for fixed position cameras of which most don’t work unless it’s the HADECs on the smart motorways which can be picked up on GPS based detector apps.

No idea which to get either but looking at getting one due to the bike above. I think one with the best laser detection is what I want to opt for because generally that’s what most mobile traps use.

What's the score if you are stopped with one, i suspect they take a fairly dim view?

I was lead to belive that by the time your lazer notifies you of a copper he has already clocked your speed.

Ive also read somewhere that the signal used to open automatic garage doors jams the lazer from the police gun. If caught with your garage door button on- to open your garage you'll get a heafty fine.

That's what I've learnt from doing some research, the only chance you have of being saved by it is if the car in front gets tagged first, it notifys you and you manage to slow down in time but even then your likely to spot it first and with all the false positives you just end up being more paranoid and erratic because of it so best just to be alert.
Had one come with my car but its now in a drawer and have never even attempted to use it. Apparently you can get jammers but they are completely illegal. Also getting caught with a detector in certain countries is instant jail time, not here tho.

Speaking of speed cameras, the vans are bastatds these days, look like bloody ice cream vans, blue and yellow, that should be straight up illegal, let's hope the porsche that kept going after we let off at that straight blocked the camera for us lol

The Jammers are definitely illegal to use. Few cases where the driver was successfully convicted of perverting the course of justice...the issue is that the operator is a civilian. If it’s a police officer it’s obstructing a police office in the course of their duty/investigation/whatever.

Either way both criminal acts so criminal record etc.

You’d have to be really speeding by a large amount to get a equivalent motoring conviction so actually you are better off speeding without a jammer than be caught using a jammer when NOT speeding.

Detectors are no issue, but they do keep trying to push for a ban on radar/laser detectors. They used to be illegal under the wireless communications act which was eventually quashed as it was proven to be b*lloc*ks. GPS detectors will never be illegal.

Either way full licence since 1996 never had a fine or conviction. Except for forgetting to pay at a pay and display. But had many near misses; Especially by sneaky traps as above which are located on downhill stretches and when I’m driving an automatic so speed drifts when coasting. Or missed a speed limit sign for whatever reason; Most detectors do notify you of speed limits so a handy additional feature.
