Default Boxed Chinese and Indian meals

Are utterly horrible. No one can do it right like a takeaway

My folks have invited me round for the Marks and Spencer version tonight. Had it before. Might as well just eat the box.

Does ANYONE do a good one

Nope. The only ready meals that were somewhere close was Mister Daves! And then they aren't that great (haven't seen any in the shops for years).

And the take aways/restaurants round here have gone down the pan (no pun) too; Always inconsistent from one week to the next. Meat never marinaded long enough, mixing in beef with the lamb in hope you don't notice etc.

So fed up of it we're making our own tonight!

The chinese is cr@p, they aren't allowed to use kitten or alsation meat, like the local takeaways do...

I don't eat these types of food (very fussy eater) but used to love the Vesta beef currries many years ago. Tried the new ones last year and they were awful - more veg than curry powder

The Sainsburys Chinese ones aren't too bad, but the trick is in the cooking. First, cook as per the instructions on the box but before eating there is one more important step.

Lower your expectations.

Got to disagree with you on the M&s curry, their lamb rogan josh is as good as any I have had anywhere plus you know it is lamb unlike some I have had at restaurants.

I am in Zimbabwe where there is no option for ready made. So lukily you soon learn to make from scratch! But I agree in the UK ready made never comes close to the real thing!

There's nothing wrong with horse meat, it's just when it's sold as something else. Lamb has a distinct flavour, there's nothing else tastes like it.
